Jökulsárlón is a lake that sits between a glacier, Vatnajökull, and the sea. Huge chunks of glacier break off and slowly drift to the sea. It's been on my must-see list for about two years, but last summer (august 20 to be exact) we finally made it.

This is what the scene looks like if you're lucky and it's not all fog and rain and doom and gloom!

Huge icebergs making their way across.

You can take a tour on the lake with a boat, going between the icebergs... Is this the boat that we took? Nope... it's not even a boat. It's a carboat.

Jokulsarlon boat car thing, ready to roll... float.

Is this the boat that we're taking to cross the lake? Nope.

Another view from the shore.

Actually, forget about the boat, let's go to the beach instead, to check out the chunks of ice that get left behind on the black sand.

Magic ice scattered across the beach.

More beautiful ice...

Another iceblock by the shore.

And here's another one.. I guess the boat-trip will be for the next post!

Ooh, aah, nice.
